Get the report in Slack
Time: 5 minutes. You need to be able to install an app in your Slack workspace. Depending on your company settings, a Slack admin may need to approve it.
Step 1: create the channel
In Slack, create the channel that will receive the reports, for example #server-security. For a private channel, you must be a member.
Step 2: create the Slack app
- Open api.slack.com/apps, signed in to your Slack account.
- Click Create New App, then From scratch.
- Name the app
FondateurMode, pick your workspace, then Create App.
Step 3: enable incoming webhooks
- In the left menu, open Incoming Webhooks.
- Turn on Activate Incoming Webhooks.
Step 4: connect the channel
- At the bottom of the page, click Add New Webhook.
- Choose #server-security, then Allow.
- Copy the URL shown, which looks like
https://hooks.slack.com/services/T0…/B0…/….
This URL lets anyone post in your channel: do not share it or commit it to a repository.
Step 5: save it in FondateurMode
On your server:
sudo fondateurmode slack set-webhook "https://hooks.slack.com/services/T0…/B0…/…"
sudo fondateurmode slack test
A test message arrives in the channel. The daily report will be posted there automatically. On Pro and Business plans, an instant alert is also sent when the antivirus finds an infected file.
The URL is not kept on your server: it is stored encrypted by FondateurMode, which posts the report.
Change channel or stop
- Another channel: repeat step 4, then
sudo fondateurmode slack set-webhook NEW_URL. - Stop Slack messages:
sudo fondateurmode slack remove.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Fix |
|---|---|
Invalid Slack webhook URL | Copy the full URL, starting with https://hooks.slack.com/services/ |
| The test does not arrive | Check the webhook still exists in api.slack.com/apps, under Incoming Webhooks |
| The private channel is not listed | Join the channel, then repeat step 4 |
